Multi-faceted, unapologetic and a luminary in the world of music and fashion, Saràh Phenom draws inspiration from the myriad experiences and emotions that life throws her way and refuses to accept narrow descriptions of her art and creates authentically without limitations.
Today she announces the release of her forthcoming debut EP Girl out 18th October 2024 and shares her new single “Tesla”. Coming in hot after her debut single “10%”, “Tesla” sees her level up again and effortlessly blend everything from pop to electronic, R&B and more.
Accented with staccato horns and a thumping percussion, lyrically she puts men on the spot using the luxury car as a motif to ask what exactly it is they are bringing to the table.
Exchanging punchy lines in both French and English, she plays on her London via Parisian life experience with tongue in cheek nods to fashion week and cups of tea.
Speaking on the single, she says:
“This song isn’t actually about a Tesla Its story about this dude that was chatting me up and I was like, before talking to me where’s my Tesla, (in a braggadocious way). Not because I actually wanted one, but just to kind of explain that he wasn’t bringing any value to my life and in that phase of my life I just wasn’t trying to waste my time – + he had a girlfriend!! . I want women to hear this song and feel confident to want more for themselves! Even in compromising situations! Your time is valuable, ‘if this one doesn’t work out, another one will!’ Not everything shiny is gold you know!”
The embodiment of borderless, genreless youth, her cross-cultural upbringing has given her an open mind and a unique perspective. On her debut EP Girl, listeners will find a rich melting pot of eclectic sounds that graze everything from Amapiano to Pop, D&B to R&B and more.
Written from experiences over the last two years, lyrically the project will see Saràh explore the nuance and complexities of life on the journey from girl to woman; growth in a big city, love, deception, drugs, alcohol, sex and more.
