Rising Pop sensation, singer/songwriter, fashion creative, and mental-health activist, Ananya, has just released the visuals to her latest single, Emotions, shot in Cape Town by multi-award-winning (Loeries, Cannes) film director and cinematographer, Dirk van Niekerk.
Speaking about her experience shooting the music video, Ananya shares: “Returning to Cape Town was really special, bringing back memories of recording my debut EP. It was amazing to reconnect with the city on a creative level. Each time I go back now, it feels like my creative energy deepens.”
She adds: “Creating this music video was so fun, and watching it now brings me back to the music videos I loved watching as a kid. I hope people enjoy the visual as much as people have gravitated towards the song!”
Diving into the creative, Dirk van Niekerk shares: “With the song being about relationships, friction and processing a break up I wrote a story around it. A couple arrive at their Guesthouse for the weekend, but before they can even enter, they have a fight, he leaves and she now has this big ol’ house or to herself.
But she treats herself to this weekend away, whilst processing her break up and rocking out to her Emotions.”
“In the visuals we show Ananya, rocking out in and around the Guesthouse, dressing up and celebrating her new self. Her free self. We wanted the visuals to be fun and playful,” he concludes.
Nearing 50 000 streams since the Emotions single release three weeks ago, Ananya continues to establish herself as a powerful voice in the global music scene with streams coming out of China, UK, USA, Japan, South Africa and more.
