Rising pop sensation, singer/songwriter, fashion creative, and mental-health activist, Ananya, is set to enchant audiences once again with her latest release, “bad for you (acoustic),” out today.
Following the resounding success of her debut EP “i woke up one night,” which has garnered over 750,000 streams, Ananya continues to prove herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
Ananya’s original “bad for you” was a standout track on her debut EP, resonating with fans across the globe. Now, with the acoustic version, she offers a raw, intimate experience that strips away the production to reveal the song’s heartfelt core. “I feel more connected to this version because it’s how the song originally began,” Ananya explains.
“Some lyrics are sad and reveal painful truths. In the acoustic version, I think the me singing is very honest about those emotions, while in the original version, the me singing reflects having overcome the pain and feeling empowered to move forward. It’s special!”
The decision to release an acoustic version of “bad for you” was fuelled by the song’s remarkable performance and its deep personal significance to Ananya. “I’m really lucky that ‘bad for you’ has been my best-performing song.
It even begins with the title of the EP (‘I woke up one night in the summer…’), so it’s a great representative of both me and my debut EP. Releasing the track as it sounded in the writing stages is especially meaningful,” she shares.
Recording the acoustic version was a deeply personal and transformative experience for Ananya. With the talented Amy Jaggs accompanying her on piano, the session took place in a dimly lit studio, allowing Ananya to fully immerse herself in the emotions of the song.
“It was a dream! I was deeply in touch with my feelings while recording, and it felt like everything had come full circle,” she describes.
Ananya’s music is known for its ability to convey profound emotions, and “bad for you (acoustic)” is no exception. Through this rendition, she hopes to inspire listeners to feel empowered and strong, even when faced with painful truths.
“I hope listeners still feel empowered and strong, even when confronted with painful truths – but to be aware that it’s important to take time to heal and face those emotions head-on. It’s through this process that we become empowered to move on and let go,” she conveys.
As Ananya closes the chapter of her debut EP, she reflects on the journey with gratitude and anticipation for the future. “I’m emotional and deeply attached to this project; it has taught me so much in such a short time. I’m grateful more than anything, and excited for what’s to come,” she expresses.
Ananya’s rise in the music industry has been nothing short of meteoric. Her unique blend of pop, infused with influences from icons like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Dido, has captivated fans and critics alike. With standout press from South Africa, UK, France and the USA, Ananya is quickly becoming a household name.
